The show was titled America 250 in honor of this year's celebration of 250 years of independence.  Members entered categories of floral creativity, horticulture and photography.
Margaret Seale, president of Colonial Garden Club, was the speaker at the April meeting of the JPCGC.   Her very informative program was about the evolution of the earth and its creatures with the main topic being on saving species of the butterfly and moths.  She had members assist her in the program by experimenting how different soils and plants pollute the earth.   Following the program, she gave a handbook she'd made to each of them with all of her scientific knowledge in her program displayed.

The Shady Oaks Garden Club was the host for the Jefferson Parish Council of Garden Clubs January meeting at the Lafreniere Park Foundation Center.  Speakers were Stephanie Henning who spoke on Historical Trees and the importance of Arbor Day and Coleen Perilloux Landry who presented a Power Point show of her photographs of wild birds taken locally.

Donna Clark introduced the schedule for the Flower Show "Circus, Circus" which will be held April 5-6 at the Pavilion of the Two Sisters in City Park.  She urged everyone to participate in floral design, horticulture or photography.

The co-presidents Val Moscana and Elizabeth McDougald gave reports on the successful and beautiful dedication of the Blue Star Marker at Bucktown Harbor earlier in the month.  Coleen Landry told the group that the Jefferson Parish Council is the only group in the United States to install a Blue Star and a Gold Star Marker outside of the United States, referring to the 75th Anniversary of Normandy when JPCGC participated in ceremonies in Normandy to dedicate the Markers.

JPCGC members will hold a Field Trip in February to Mizell's Camellia Hill Nursery in Folsom.
