FRIDAY 28
DAY 2    Drive from Fredericksburg, to Llano

8:30 AM              Depart Hotel via HWY 4 to see the Enchanted Rock, the largest, natural, granite rock in the world
9:30 AM              Arrive Llano (look around, shop, etc.)
11 AM                  Depart for Burnet HWY 29 E, (will have lunch here as well as look around the town and visit)
12 PM                  Lunch at the Buffet in Burnet at Highlander Restaurant buffet, and depart for Cedar Springs and Muleshoe Bend Recreation Area.  A privately owned and beautiful area that we were told might have some Bluebonnets—so we went “hunting.”    AND WE FOUND SOME!!!
12:45     Back to Fredericksburg, and Dinner at Bella Sera
SATRUDAY  29
6-7:30 AM          Breakfast
8 AM                    Depart for Johnson City (LBJ’s Ranch) We were very excited, as a “volunteer” Ranger, boarded our bus to guide us around the ranch, and shared some very interesting information about times at the Ranch.  We left the ranch to proceed to the Wildseed Farm to do some interesting and different shopping-including plants, sees, and gifts; have a delicious box lunch, and several took part in an interesting “Wine Tasting.”
Drove back to Fredericksburg to shop, walk around; res; and some visited the PACIFIC WAR MUSEUM AND SPECIAL EXHIBIT.)  Our final dinner was in the Private Room at Western Edge.
SUNDAY  30
Depart for home and dropped everyone off in the reverse order of their “pick-up.”
We used Mayo Tours out of West Monroe for our transportation, and they serviced us very well, especially with our wonderful driver, Jason Hawthorne.  He became “family,” and treated us as such.
The trip was great—did not show us as many Bluebonnets as hoped, but we were like little children opening gifts on Christmas Morning when we did find them.

REMEMBER, PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE TO BE LGCF MEMBERS TO GO ON THE LGCF TOURS!!!!
Our next one is to Boston, October 13-17, 2025
COME JOIN US!!

PROPOSED TOURS THROUGH FALL 2026

FALL TOUR OF BOSTON AND NEW HAMPSHIRE     ***October 13-17, 2025
Because of our original dates being during all of the big Columbus Day holiday, we were strongly urged to change our dates to the above!  We will fly into Boston, do the Harbor Tour, take the Bus Tour around Boston, follow the “Freedom Trail,” visit Cheers and tour Faneuil Hall.  Because of the change in dates, our itinerary has changed, and we will visit the Cape Cod area to visit a cranberry bog, the Heritage Gardens and Museum and Sandwich, Mass.  We will stay in two hotels to provide for the most time to tour.  Because we of course want to be at the peek of “Fall Colors,” it is probably the most expensive time to visit Boston and the area, but I am working with a good tour group, same organization that arranged Philadelphia.  I hope by February to know a close estimate; as well as, have an idea of the costs for the flights.
MUST HAVE 25 PEOPLE TO MAKE.
PLEASE SCHEDULE YOUR DISTRICT MEETINGS AROUND THIS DATE!!!!!

SPRING TOUR FOR NASHVILLE’S ANTIQUE                Jan 8-11, 2026
AND GARDEN SHOW
Because the Antique Show announces its dates so late, I had hoped to finally have the dates for the Show, but maybe by January 8-11, 2026

TOUR TO MACKINAC ISLAND                                              Fall 2026 – Sept 18–22?
We will fly and travel to Mackinac Island, tour the island and we will tour other highlights that are in the area, since the island is not very large.
THERE IS THE OPTION TO TAKE A CRUISE AROUND THE GREAT LAKES, BUT IT IS A LITTLE EXPENSIVE, BUT IS A SPECTACULAR CRUISE!!
Still developing the tour, so if you have suggestions, please get in touch with me.  I am opened to all and any.

I have been asked to stay as Tour Chairman until 2028—so please be thinking of suggestions for 2027 and 2028!!!

Last day of our trip, Longwood Gardens. A gardeners dream.

Versa Dore - Barnes Foundation - March 7, 2024

The Barnes Foundation this afternoon. He was an avid art collector who arranged his art as he saw a vision of how they related. He added furniture and other pieces as he saw a relationship between them. He never told of his interpretations, as he felt each should see art in his or her on interpretation. The art is placed as he left it when he passed away as per his will

Versa Dore - Lancaster PA - March 6, 2024

Went to Lancaster today to visit the Amish community. I was surprised at the size of their homes. They add on for married children, up to 3 families living in a home. One has 17 children. Met up with a few horse and buggies, visited a goat farm, leather shop, quilt shop and a replica of a 9 room home that included a room that was a school house, with original furnishings and clothing. They are hard working. Some now use solar panels for energy. They charge huge batteries to power lights and work equipment. Different communities have their own rules. Learned a lot about this beautiful culture today! Some use washers but none use dryers. All clothes are hung outside. Their bikes don't have peddles. They are built like scooters. There is one in the first pic
