45 Students from Rapides High School with the JAG program (Jobs After Graduation) volunteered to help us with a "Work Day" that tidied up several garden areas that the Lecompte Garden Club maintains. Garden Club Members and Community Volunteers supervised  and appreciated the help.  Joyce Lyford, Chairman of the Cleanest City and Civic Development Committees of Lecompte Garden Club has organized and coordinated  these Workday efforts for over five years.  Below was Joyce's Plan of Action for the Day - It was a SUCCESS!

GC, Rapides High JAG and Youth Volunteer Club Workday - Version 2  Friday, October 29, 2021 8:00 AM – 1:30 PM 
Plan of Work – V2 (10/24/2021) 
7:30 am Load water in chests, pine straw, and tools (at H&H) and deliver to sites - Jerl and Paul 
8:00 A.M. Volunteers should be in place Students will be dropped off at various sites by RHS Bus Students will have their own gloves - Rapides High Bus will drop groups of students at the following places: 

Welcome Signs behind Sabine Bank – Susanne Jones – 
10 Students, faculty (weed eater) 
Weed Bed by hand, Fertilize roses (Rose Food) and holly plants (fertilizer) 
 Provided: Trash Bags, fertilizer, clippers, pine straw, brooms, bottles of H2O 
Weed-eat growth around adjacent trees. Bag debris 
After area is complete – proceed to:  
left fence by sidewalk on the way to Hardy St. , clear vines 
right fence by bank parking – clear litter and mulch under fence 
If there is time left over, go to Smith’s Landing, help there and turn in tools 

Smith’s Landing – Dorothy Carnal – 10 Students + Faculty Member 
Weed and clean flower beds around Smith’s (follow Dorothy’s instruction) 
Plant Tree under direction of Dorothy (take pictures) 
Provided: Trash bags, shovels, loppers, brooms and scoopers, H20 

Water and Wall Street – Lydia Grayson - Drop 3 Students at H&H – 
Volunteers (3) – will trim and remove dead rose blooms from roses in pots, 
Weed and Fertilize roses in containers 
Flag plant bed – weed, fertilize and lay pine straw 
When finished, volunteers should go to St. Martin’s Catholic Church to set up for lunch. 
Provided: Trash Bags, clippers, rose food, pine straw at flag bed

Carter C. Raymond – Debbie Branigan – 4 students (faculty will check periodically) Volunteers will weed, trim needed plants and lay pine straw 
Provided: Trash Bags, pine straw, clippers, broom, dustpan, H20 
LHS – 15 Volunteers - Beds Around Building and clean fence lines – Robert Jones 3 Volunteers will pressure wash benches - Veterans Memorial–Robert Jones 
6 Volunteers to work inside – Ronnie Roberts 
Provided: Trash Bags, hoes, shovels, clippers, dustpans, brooms 
 For inside Lysol wipes, brooms provided by LHS 
Breast Cancer Garden and Side Bed under Stairs – Pauline Humphries 
3 Volunteers will weed and lay pine straw - Provided: Trash Bags, clippers
Noon Students transported to St. Martin’s in Baptist Church Van – Ronnie Roberts Lunch at St. Martin’s Catholic Church will be prepared by Alecia’s Parents, the Rachals Supervisors – Please return all tools, water, ect to H&H 
Cookies – Pauline Humphries and Lydia Grayson (deliver to H&H) 
 Contributions to defray food expenses 
Make Checks to: Rapides High JAG = Give to Joyce or Alecia 
12:30 pm – 1:30 pm Eat at St. Martins 
1:30 – 2:30 pm Litter Walk on Weems and work at Town Hall until picked up by School Bus (location to  be determined by Alecia) 
Grocery and Trash Bags for litter 
Trimmers for hedge at Town Hall 
Plant fern in planter 
Fern Needed: 
Volunteers Needed - Donations to defray food expenses: Checks made to RHS JAG and delivered to Joyce at H&H. A big thank you to Janet, Dwanna, and Lydia for donations of water and soft drinks.  
If you can have time Friday morning, Any of the supervisors would like assistance.
